Last week I wished that I had kept a list of all the books I have read in my lifetime. This week I find a great website that let’s you catalog the books you have read or want to read in an online catalog. I have used it all of 15 minutes and love it. LibraryThing let’s you create your own library of up to 200 books for free, or for $10 during the Beta you can add all you want forever. They pull from the Library of Congress and Amazon to give you access to everything. The best trick is that they use Tags like Flickr and del.icio.us do so you can organize and share your books. What makes this so brilliant is that they let you browse the Zeitgest by either Tag Cloud or Author Cloud, also by Genre, Top 25 books, and the 25 largest user libraries, etc. See something you have read in another users library? Want to add it to yours? Click on their Graphical Shelf and then click on the book to add it to your catalog. It’s easier than typing in every one of your books one at a time. You can also add books by using the ISBN number. Since they already pull from Amazon, I wish it had a category for music and movies and let me add those to my catalog using the ASIN numbers also. Let’s all send them an email to see if that can be done in a future update. I foresee a long future with LibraryThing.
Take it for a spin…

It’s the simple things in our lives that give us joy. Two kids, 3 and 4, discovering sparklers for the first time. Dain and Olivia were beyond happy, Hysterical with glee would be a better description.
There are some great animated images over at weather.com of Hurricane Rita. Recent updates are that she is losing strength and will make landfall tonight as a Category 3 storm, but just barely. Check out Hurricane Central for the most current conditions and updates.

I am an avowed Movie Freak. The only thing that I like better than a good movie is a good book. As long as I can remember I have loved movies. When I was a kid growing up in Atlanta the best way to escape the heat was in an air conditioned movie theater. I remember summer days when it was 95 degrees and 95% humidity and you just dripped. Walking into the cool darkness anticipating a new movie was a thrill. I remember walking out after an afternoon movie and the sun just blasting heat and light and your eyes screaming for mercy. I wish I had done 2 things in the course of my life…
1) Kept a list of all the books I have read
2) Kept a list of every movie I have seen
There is no way I can capture every book, way to many to even think about, but I have captured every movie I have seen since I joined Netflix in 1997. I was on the original pre pay Value Pack plan before they went to a subscritpion service. I have also been using a cool little app called Netflix Freak that syncs with the Netflix site and allows you to download your viewing history and store it locally(Great App if your on a Mac). It rates right behind ecto as one of my favorite programs. So, for your viewing pleasure I present my Top rated 4 and 5 star movies from my Netflix history. I tend to lean towards Action and Adventure, Drama, Comedy, and a smattering of movies rated by my kids. There are 640 movies in my history but I am only sharing the 219 that I rated 4 or more stars. If you know of anything that I need to watch please share it in the comments.

Our newest endeavor and obsession is learning to fish. Dain has declared that we are going to eat the first fish that he catches. According to the Laws of Dain it will be just like Tuna Fish only more “Refreshing”.
